Wests v Kokatahi

Wests U6’s played another wonderful game against Kokatahi on the W.H.S 1 field this weekend. The score was a draw. The score of tries was lower this week as Wests great defence meant that the ball was slower to change over. Wests, led by Captain for the day Jude Paneda, continued this week with an awesome offensive and defensive game.

Jude was a fantastic role model for the rest of his Wests team with his calm temperament on the field and his great sportsmanship. He scored an awesome try and got several impressive tag rips also. Caleb Beri got Wests player of the day award, and is really showing his enthusiasm for the game with his speed and brilliant defence.

Blaketown v South Westland
Blaketown hosted South Westland at Arthur Fong Park. Blaketown were a little short in numbers and therefore borrowed two players from South Westland making it a good friendly game. Blaketown opened the scoring with a well taken try in the opening play of the match, as the Southern team appeared to be still recovering from the long journey north.

That was the wake up call the Southern boys needed, and the forward pack tore into their work dominating possession. This resulted in some well taken tries and a 25-10 half time lead to South Westland. This dominance continued in the second half against a gallant Blaketown who never stopped trying and were rewarded with a further 2 tries, but South Westland ran out worthy winners.

The spectators were treated to a good open game where many players had strong runs with the ball., Calib Arneson, Mackenzie Clark and Liam Belcher. Calib was impressive winning the player of the day. Blaketown had to defend hard and Reilly Seifert, Will England, Felix Gillam and Kaleb Steel worked tirelessly to stop South Westland piling on the points. South Westland were the clear winners on the day but Blaketown are team that are improving with every game they play.
